Tooth Decay Treatments and Fillings
The earlier tooth decay is detected and treated, the easier and less invasive the treatment. As a rule, tooth decay can be treated at an early stage with a simple filling. It is therefore important to have regular dental examinations in order to be able to detect and treat tooth decay at an early stage.
-
Tooth decay is a disease of the teeth caused by bacteria. These bacteria feed on sugars and carbohydrates in leftover food in the mouth, producing acids that attack tooth enamel.
-
Unfortunately, tooth decay cannot heal on its own. Once tooth enamel has been attacked by tooth decay, it cannot regenerate itself.
At an early stage, tooth decay can be treated with a simple filling before it penetrates deeper into the tooth and causes more damage.
-
In most cases, tooth decay does not cause pain or symptoms until it is advanced. It is therefore important to have regular check-ups in order to detect and treat tooth decay at an early stage.

Retainer-Attachment
A retainer, also known as a brace retainer or stabilizer, refers to a device that is either fixed or removable and is usually made of a bonded wire. This appliance is used to hold teeth in their repositioned shape after braces or other orthodontic attachments have been removed. The goal of the retainer is to maintain the newly achieved tooth position and prevent the teeth from returning to their original position.
-
Retainers can be made of different materials such as plastic or metal. They are custom made for each patient to ensure an optimal fit.
-
The length of time a retainer must be worn depends on several factors, such as the type of original tooth misalignment and the type of retainer used.
As a rule, a wearing period of several years is recommended in order to ensure the newly achieved tooth position and to prevent the teeth from returning to their original position.
-
It is advisable to brush extra thoroughly with fixed retainers as bacteria and plaque can easily collect on and around the retainer. We provide you with individual cleaning routines to achieve this. Regular professional tooth cleaning also helps to thoroughly remove bacteria around the retainer.
Removable retainers should also be cleaned regularly with a toothbrush and warm water to remove plaque and bacteria.
